New Study on Recycled PET Composite Panels by ICP & Concordia University

Innovative Composite Products (ICP) Inc. is pleased to announce the publication of a joint research study with the Center for Composites (CONCOM) at Concordia University. This work represents a significant breakthrough in the field of sustainable composite materials and was presented at the Canadian International Conference on Composite Materials (CANCOM 2024). In this study, CONCOM and ICP focused on sandwich panels composed of recycled PET foam cores and investigated state-of-the-art methods for producing thermoplastic composite panels.

The selection of recycled PET foam sourced from waste bottles highlights the project’s commitment to sustainability without sacrificing performance. The team successfully fabricated panels that maintain high adhesion between the PET foam core and Glass/Polypropylene facesheets, optimized to endure the demands of various structural applications.

ICP and Concordia University continue to pave the way in composite material innovations. This research underlines the potential of recycled thermoplastics, offering promising applications in construction, automotive, and aerospace sectors.
